AND THAT'S ONE TO GROW ON
Oh my god. Here's somethin'. So, the WWE, in their quest to please the groundlings and receive high ratings decided their season opener would consist of a "commitment ceremony" for tag-team players Billy and Chuck. I was semi-enraged (?) when I heard about it on the Today show this morning, but then of course slightly comforted by the idea that GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and other groups were behind it. However, I am getting REAL, REAL disgusted by these pro-gay groups siding with homophobic corporations. GLAAD takes the pro-stance because it visualizes what commitment is for a large straight audience, and they said something along the lines of 14-year old boys won't be as afraid to come out. Hey, maybe that is partially true. But, mostly, I think they are suckers - you mean to tell me that the WWE is interested in giving an accurate representation of what I hope to do someday? The WWE is of course, always concerned with pomp and showmanship, so in that sense, I don't blame them. And, as a side note, these guys "aren't gay", and seem nice enough.

Sadly, what is even worse is in my search for articles on the subject (check this one from Vince McMahon's daughter Stephanie), a lot of people were quoted saying things like, "Why don't they just call it a wedding?" or "So, gays get married, so what?" - NO, we don't. We aren't allowed. Why don't people know this? If it isn't such a big deal, why hasn't legislation passed?

Holy hell - the NY Lotto came up 9-1-1 yesterday, no sh*t.

I feel like everyone on t.v. has something to say about tomorrow. Endless shows, all day coverage, primetime interviews. My friend Kris equated it to "tragedy porn", and I really feel that phrase. I hope that tomorrow isn't filled with graphic images and the towers exploding ad infinitum, but I have a feeling it will be. My opinion, I suppose, is this : watch a little t.v. to remember, then turn it off. Go outside. Appreciate things. Read a book about policy and why it happened to begin with. Then, deal with things in your own way, without imagery to force you into dealing with it in theirs.
