1.800.I-FLY-SWA
Well, I flew back to Chicago this week to audition for Second City's TourCo. Thankfully, I got a switchable ticket, because I got no callback after my initial audition. It's not all bad, though- I had a good audition (I thought...?) and it was painful fun. Of course, it's disappointing, but I did get to make it to Columbus for Amy's b-day.
Plus, I found out a few good things: my group The Cleaning Ladies got voted in as a House Team at the Playground (which means we'll perform more, be in the program, people will know who we are, etc.) - before we were just a Guest Team. Yay! Oh, and also, a director at ComedySportz invited me to be in the fall kid show, How To Eat Fried Worms (did you read it? I loved it!) as the annoying kid sister. Awesome.

KARAOKE = so GAY
Oh man, that's funny every time. No, but seriously, last Monday it was. We went to a bad little lesbian bar called Summit Station, one of the best dives I've been to in a while. I mean, mullet-wearin', $1.25 beer-drinkin' good times. There was even a fight in the wee hours! We were talking over our Miller Lites when suddenly some British girl set up the machine, and announced that it was Karaoke night. We made a bet in a friendly game of "guess the title" that whoever got 5 right first got to pick the person to karaoke. I won it, and nominated my emphatic, excited, tone-questioning pal Chrissy up. She and her gf Tracy came through with Bust a Move, and even Busted out their own late 80s moves while I NKOTB-ed on the floor. I did a rousing (?) rendition of Let's Get It On, and Amy joined me later for the never-dead/painful-but-fun I Will Survive. Man, some people there were so into it, I didn't even know what to think. It was something. Something enough, even, to bring us back this Monday with many more people. I fought myself on the cheese-quotient - Is Karaoke fun, or ridiculously asinine? Answer.
