Happy Lee Greenwood Day! Fourth of July!
Sometimes, on days when we are required to bleed red white and blue, I think wistfully about Lee Greenwood and Neil Diamond. Neil Diamond, not so much because he has other hits, but - c'mon... can't you just hear the casio keyboard bangin out "America"? WE-comin' to A-mer-i-caaaaa! (Today!) Every year, in Columbus, they play that hit at Red, White, and Boom - the city's very large display of fireworks. They didn't do it last night (to my dismay) - but, they DID play the Greenwood classic. I often think, what does this guy think about this song being played EVERY year? During all (domestic or non-domestic) disputes? This guy's career is blared from parade floats every fourth. (Though after a little research, I just learned that he has 30 ALBUMS! WHAT?! It's gotta be like, two originals, with 28 others like God Bless the USA, part deux and This is the Remix - USA.) It's sad to be a one-trick, blue-collared lovin', war-fightin', flag-wavin' pony. Isn't it?
*sigh*
...'cuz there ain't no do-uu-ubt I love this laaaaand, god bless...the...U...S...AaaaaaAAAAAaaaaaa!
(Also, a small time-out for Oleta Adams, who sang "Get Here" as the Gulf War came to a head. How unfortunate.)

The Lifetime Channel. Bringing us Life remodeling at it's best.
What is about this show that is so F-ING addictive? Seriously, for a few weeks, I found myself running home to see this at 3 everyday. Why is this happening? Is it Paige's perkiness and their smart move to drop Alex? Is it Vern's overzealousness on projects? Is it the devil's Doug's apparent disregard of every homeowner's wish? Is it the ever-ticking clock that game-show-s this otherwise un-spicy show up? Possibly the annoyingly catching theme song? Or, is it simply this? One must know these things.
